Linguistics
Linguistics involves the humanistic and scientific study of language structure and language use. As such it has many overlaps with Philosophy, Philology, Anthropology and Psychology. All Souls College has supported research across these disciplines for centuries. The first research appointment specifically in Linguistics was made in 2020, however a number of Fellows conduct research on modern and ancient languages, while others advance the study of language structure and use through fieldwork, empirical reflection, and theory-building.
