Dr. Tabitha Tuckett

Tabitha Tuckett took up the post of Fellow Librarian in 2026. She worked previously at the John Rylands Library in Manchester, University College London where she was rare-books librarian for nearly 12 years, and the libraries of the Warburg Institute and Magdalen College, Oxford. She was lecturer in Library and Archive Studies at the University of Manchester, helping set up, and teaching for, the UK’s first MA to provide a professional qualification in both archives and librarianship. She has taught historical bibliography and rare-books librarianship at UCL since 2020. Before working in libraries and archives she completed a B.A. in classics and philosophy and a D.Phil. on classical and Elizabethan English and Neo-Latin literature in print and manuscript. She went on to a junior research fellowship at New College, Oxford exploring the typographical presentation of proverbial wisdom in early printed European books. Her research interests include the print tradition of Dante, historical systems of classification and knowledge organisation, and the challenge of names and representation in catalogue records of early printed books. She has an interest in performance practice of 18th- and 19th-century European classical music and has worked as a professional cellist.
