Professor Eva Margareta Steinby
My research interests focus on the topography of ancient Rome and on the building industry of the city. Currently I concentrate on a new edition of the brick stamps from Central Italy. In 2015 a first draft will be published on the website of the Institutum Romanum Finlandiae (www.irfrome.org, web publications, I bolli doliari dell'Italia centro-occidentale. Edizione preliminare) with the aim to draw the attention of archaeologists and epigraphists to the lacunae in the documentation and ask for help. A series of commentaries will follow on topics like the prosopography of landowners and contractors, the location and history of the brickyards, the language of the stamps. The entries on each stamp are being fed into the database of the Istituto Centrale di Catalogo e Documentazione, Rome.
