Revd Canon Rachel Carnegie
Prior to becoming Chaplain at All Souls College, I have worked since 1985 in international development, with a focus on health education, gender, humanitarian relief, and the role of faith communities. Alongside my chaplaincy role, I continue to pursue my interests in the role of faith and culture in international development, including in pandemic and conflict responses, and also in the theology of mission in relation to faith engagement in social and environmental issues. Previous roles have included: • Executive Director, Anglican Alliance: connecting the global Anglican Communion in tackling issues of poverty, inequality and environmental crises (from 2014 to 2024) • Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan William's Secretary for International Development (from 2009 to 2013) • Coordinator for Church Mobilisation on HIV, Tearfund (from 2007 to 2009) • Ordained priest in Church of England (from 2005) • Consultant on health education and gender to UNICEF, Save the Children, etc. (from 1995 to 2007) • Creative Director, Meena (Girl Child) Communication Initiative in South Asia, UNICEF (from 1990 to 1995) • Programme Officer and Lecturer, London University Institute of Education Child-to-Child Trust (from 1988 to 1989). • Teacher and Health Education Curriculum Developer, Voluntary Service Overseas and Save the Children, Bhutan (from 1985 to 1988).
